The latter-day Eagles lineup has featured Vince Gill helping fill the shoes of the late Glenn Frey.

In a new interview with American Songwriter, Gill says Don Henley picked him “because he knows how to be in a band” – something Gill called “such a beautiful validation”.

While Gill is best known for his solo country work, he was part of the band Pure Prairie League, which produced hits like “Let Me Love You Tonight” and “Amie”. The Eagles will kick off a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere next month.
