For years people have complained about Ticketmaster’s monopoly on the ticket industry, lack of ticket availability and of course the fees. This all could change soon with more and more companies getting into the ticket game.

Companies like AXS, Ticketleader & Eventbrite have taken a small piece of the pie selling tickets for concerts and events, often with a region specific focus, but one new name is throwing their hat in the ring in the U.S. Spotify is taking a shot at selling tickets directly from their site/app. It makes sense, they already have a ‘LIVE MUSIC’ tab with a concert calendar for many of their artists, they have a relationship with the labels, could Spotify sell tickets for cheaper fees saving us all a few bucks when buying tickets?

Spotify has said they’re in the test phase right now, working with only a handful of artists. One thing that caught our eye is the fact that purchasers can’t resell their tickets on Spotify, we assume this is an effort to curb ticket scalping.

Ticketmaster recently announced that fans can start buying tickets through TikTok, so the way people are buying tickets is constantly changing. We miss the days of sleeping out in line for tickets, getting a wristband and skipping school to buy tickets.
