Happy Birthday Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner! October 2nd 1951, Sting was born, making him 65 years young today!

1978: The Police appeared on the BBC’s ‘Old Grey Whistle Test’.

1979: The Police performed at My Father’s Place in Roslyn, USA. The ‘Reggatta de Blanc’ album was released in the USA.

1980: The ‘Zenyatta Mondatta’ album was released in the USA.

1981: The Police performed at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany. The ‘Ghost In The Machine’ album was released in the USA.

1989: Sting appeared as Macheath in the ‘3 Penny Opera’ at the National Theatre in Washington DC.

1991: Sting performed at the Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, USA.

1994: Sting performed at the Superbowl in Sun City, South Africa.

2003: He performed on the ‘Today Show’ in Rockefeller Plaza, New York and the year after, in 2004: Sting performed at Shoreline Amphitheatre in San Francisco, USA.

2007: The Police perform at the Stadio Della Alpi in Turin, Italy.

2010: Accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Sting performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK.

2013: Sting performed material from ‘The Last Ship’ at a benefit concert at the Anspacher Theater in New York.

Thankfully it hasn’t been all work! As we await the release of his new album, ’57th and 9th’, we hope he takes today to celebrate! Cheers to the Birthday Boy!
