2016 marks 15 years since the attacks on the Twin Towers in New York. Here are some of the ways the day will be commemorated:

These are the twin beams of lights that now illuminate the New York City sky on the anniversary of the 2001 attacks, in place of where the towers once stood. They beam from Ground Zero and will be visible within a 60-mile radius until they fade at dawn.

On the 15th anniversary, the ceremony to be held at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum will be live-streamed HERE, so everyone can virtually participate.

Otherwise, as the NFL season kicks off on September 11th this year, the league will be commemorating the attacks at all 13 game sites on Sunday. You can expect video messages from President Barack Obama and former president George W. Bush to be broadcast to those in the stadiums and to those of us watching from home.

The day evokes great emotion and a heavy remembrance for those who were and were not directly involved. Whether you actively participate or simply take a moment of reflection, the events of that tragic day, will never be forgotten.
