Billy Idol, the iconic rocker, recently revealed that he was asked to play the vampire Spike in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Idol believes the character, ultimately portrayed by James Marsters, was based on him. Although he was keen to take on the role, his management advised against it.

In an interview with The Guardian, Idol said, “They wanted me to play Spike. I wanted to do it because I believed I could learn to act by doing it. But my manager didn’t want me to do television. So I didn’t.”

Idol also missed out on the role of the T-1000 in “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” due to a motorcycle accident caused by his drug addiction. Reflecting on the missed opportunity, he said, “I loved [director] Jim Cameron. It might have opened a lot more doors and it’s such a shame.”

Despite the accident happening in 1990, Idol still feels its effects. “There’s something going on with my right foot. It’s not the same as my left foot,” he mentioned. “The injury was in the middle of the lower part of my right leg, so it was something they could fix.”
