A big payday is coming for Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, collectively they’re Genesis.

They’ve announced a deal to sell the publishing right and master tapes covering Phil Collins solo career, plus solo recordings from keyboardist Tony Banks and guitarist Mike Rutherford, and all the music they made together in Genesis POST Peter Gabriel era to Concord Music.

In a time where it looks like the band physically will no longer be performing live, mostly due to the ongoing health issues with Phil Collins, Concord Music is hoping the band can carry on in a digital universe with Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Phil Collins recently found a new generation of listeners when In The Air Tonight took off as a viral hit thanks to Youtubers TwinstheneTrend whose reaction video to hearing the dong (and drum fill) for the first time has almost 10 MILLION views.

Genesis are following in the footsteps of Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and many others who are selling off their publishing rights for a nice payday to go enjoy retirement if they choose. They have a great catalogue spanning a few decades, we’re excited to see it being kept alive.
