We’re in a time of no hugs or kisses or high-fives (now everyone knows what it’s like to be JACK). But it wasn’t always this way. There was a time when staying home meant you having a sleep over with your best friends, playing Paperboy & Super Mario Bros on the original NES, ordering pizza and swapping cassettes in your stereo (or rewinding the tape back to the same song over and over).

A few things have changed over the years, but there is no reason you can relive some of our favourite moments!

Since it’s already April, we wanted to look back at one of our favourite April’s, April of 1985.

JACK looks back at April, 1985

The worst marketing blunder in history (until we came along) happened in April, 1985 when “New Coke” was introduced. Coca-Cola was a 99 year old company looking to reintroduce itself with a sweeter version of a classic favourite that left fans rioting in the streets. Could you imagine if we had to stay home with a fridge full of this stuff?

MUSIC

You might not have all your old Simple Minds, Madonna, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Phil Collins & WHAM! cassette’s from April ’85, so we’ve created a JACK Up The 80s playlist of our favourite 20 songs from that month. How did we do?

MOVIES

1985 was an amazing year for movies, Back To The Future, Clue, Goonies, Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Teen Wolf, Pee-Wee’s BIG Adventure and so many more. But the one movie that had people flocking to theatres in April of 1985 was:

Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment

There’s a lot of great music, movies and more from April 1985 to relive while we’re sitting at home with our families.
