Tom Petty has Passed Away at the Age of 66

For the first time in 40 years, fans of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are truly heartbroken.

With a career spanning multiple decades and music that touched several generations, the news of Tom Petty’s passing at the age of 66 is a major loss for music lovers all over the world.

On Sunday October 1st, Tom Petty was reportedly found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest. Petty was found in his home in Malibu and immediately put on life support, however, the legendary rocker passed away on Monday October 2nd, 2017.

The sudden passing comes after a recent 40th anniversary tour of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, where the band played 36 shows across North America, including a stop in Toronto and Vancouver. Petty, whose worldwide sales topped 80 million records, was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2002.

Tom Petty was 66.
