John Williams and Steven Spielberg have been associated since the 1970s, with Williams composing all music for Spielberg’s feature films (with the exception of three). Still, no one anticipated him showing up for this performance with the Seattle Symphony!

Spielberg took the podium to discuss the important relationship between the music and the motion picture itself, saying  “there’s no better marriage of mediums than music and movies.” He proceeded to show a clip from Indiana Jones without the music, and then again with the emotional charge of the symphony behind the scene to highlight the bond.

Here’s a snippet from the evening’s show, with John Williams conducting “Rey’s Theme” from Star Wars:

Looks like everyone was excited for performance – take it from the horn section who posted this shot!
