Two years in the making, “Life in 12 Bars” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and walks through Clapton’s life from his early years as a young guitarist in London, England, through his entire musical legacy and that includes the tumultuous bits in between. The movie goes into detail about his drug and alcohol abuse and at times ventures into the even heavier subject of suicide. On other other side, it also looks at Eric Clapton as a father and promotes a theme of responsibility.

At a recent press conference, Clapton said “The underlying theme was to show that from all of that mess, that I could still come to be a reasonably well-behaved human being with a sense of responsibility.”
