With the passing of Roger Moore, we felt it was fitting to revisit the different themes from his Bond movies and rank the Top 6 Roger Moore Bond Themes. And since he was “Bond, James Bond” from 1973 to 1985, there are some excellent Bond themes to choose from (including a song that we think just might be the greatest Bond theme of all-time!)

“For Your Eyes Only” – Sheena Easton

This down-tempo number from Scottish singer Sheena Easton reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was even nominated for Best Original Song at the 1982 Academy Awards.

“Moonraker” – Shirley Bassey

“Moonraker” was the 3rd Bond theme to be sung by Shirley Bassey and while it’s no “Goldfinger” it is still a great Bond theme. Fun fact: Frank Sinatra was the original choice to sing “Moonraker”.

“Nobody Does It Better” – Carly Simon

Another fun fact: “Nobody Does It Better” was the first Bond theme to have a different title than the movie it was promoting (it is from the 1977 Bond film “The Spy Who Loved Me”). It was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe and a Grammy and remains Carly Simon’s longest-charting hit.

“The Man With The Golden Gun” – Lulu

One of the least successful Bond themes, “The Man With The Golden Gun” failed to chart in both the US and UK. Alice Cooper evens claims that his song “The Man With The Golden Gun” was originally going to be the Bond theme but producers decided to use the song recorded by Lulu instead. We might even like Alice Cooper’s better, but either way this is a great Bond theme.

“A View To A Kill” – Duran Duran

This song has the distinction of being the last song the original members of Duran Duran recorded together (before their 2001 reunion) and the only Bond theme to reach #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It’s also one of our favourite Duran Duran songs.

“Live and Let Die” – Wings & Paul McCartney

Of course this song was #1. It marked the first time Paul had worked with longtime Beatles producer George Martin since the Fab 4’s break-up and was one of Wings’ most popular songs. Both the original version and Guns ‘N Roses awesome cover were nominated for Grammy awards.
