Have you ever wondered what The Beatles classic “Here Comes The Sun” would sound like if it was performed by a rock band robot that made music using actual rocks? Well, wonder no more!

Neil Mendoza is the mad musical scientist who created this electromechanical instrument and he takes his robotic rock seriously. Check out the 4 “members” of his rock band:

Pinger: the part that fires small rocks at aluminium keys using solenoids.
Spinner: the part that launches magnetic rocks (Hematite) at pieces of marble.
Slapper: the part that slaps the rocks with fake leather.
Buzzer: the part that vibrates the plunger of a solenoid against a piece of marble.

Interested in making your own “rock” band? Neil has made detailed instructions for creating your own mechanical xylophone. Check it out here!

Rock on!
