With much of November being filled with rain and clouds, it looks like December is giving us a break from the wet stuff and instead giving us some of the white stuff. More SNOW is on the way!

There is a snowfall warning in effect for Metro Vancouver and the surrounding areas. Environment Canada says, “Persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions”.

“An unstable airmass has resulted in bands of snow today. Snowfall amounts range from several cm near sea level in Greater Victoria and Metro Vancouver to 10 to 15 cm over the higher terrain and over other parts of Vancouver Island. Another band of snow is expected to move across the Central and East Island shortly and bring more snow to the rest of the South Coast this evening.”

Snow should taper off overnight in behind this system except in the Fraser Valley where the arctic air will be slower to retreat and snow will redevelop for Saturday.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.”
