It is always amazing to see such a strong attendance of community members this time of year out in the rain to support such an important annual event, the lighting of St. Paul’s Hospital Lights of Hope. Despite the not-so merry weather, people gathered along Burrard Street to bring on the cheers and good vibes as the fireworks and Lights of Hope kicked off the annual fundraising campaign in support of St. Paul’s.

This truly is a cause that tugs at the heart strings, as so many families and patients rely and depend on St. Paul’s Hospital 365 days a year for life saving health care.

Our team was out in full force embracing the cause and gifting listeners with fun and cheerful goodies. Carol singers got us in the holiday spirit and thanks to an array of food trucks that kept our belly’s full and Starbucks for keeping us warm and toasty with complimentary hot chocolate and coffee…a lifesaver on a wet night like it was to kick off the campaign. Burrard St. was buzzing with so much energy and positivity to celebrate the beginning of an annual campaign that heralds that ‘where there is light there is hope”. As you drive along Burrard Street between now and January 9th, take a moment to reflect and better yet to give. There’s also time to see your name in lights on the display, so donate today HERE!

We spoke with volunteer Mandeep Saggu about what goes in to preparing this 100,000 light bulb display that spans more than 10 kms as well as St. Paul’s Foundation Chief Development Officer Broek Bosman on why Lights of Hope is so important to our community year round.

It was a pleasure to be a part of such a significant event and we hope that you, our listeners will drive by the Lights of Hope on Burrard St and think about helping us raise much needed funds for families in need.
