Santa Claus is coming to town!

(Just writing that makes me excited!!!)

We’ve got your guide to navigating this year’s parade:

First thing’s first:

Who: Santa. Duh!

What: This is the 13th annual parade in downtown Vancouver.

When: Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 12:00 pm **NEW TIME

Where: The Parade is downtown Vancouver, located just blocks from the Burrard, City Centre, Granville and Waterfront SkyTrain stations. There’s a slightly new parade route this year; it will start at the same location – Georgia at Broughton, continue East along Georgia, turning South on Howe. It will now end on Howe and Smithe.

This event brings about 300,000 people downtown, so we suggest staking your spot in advance of the parade starting!

Here’s what the parade route will look like this year:

In the spirit of giving, you are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or provide a monetary donation to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Volunteers will be dressed in yellow ponchos and collect along the parade route.

Here are some most-needed items you can contribute:

Protein – canned fish/meat/beans
Natural peanut butter
Whole-wheat pasta and rice
Pasta sauce
Wholesome meals in a can – hearty soups/stews/chili
Canned fruit and vegetables
Healthy/low sugar cereal
Juices – natural fruit and vegetable
Infant formula and diapers

Remember to Pack:

  • Rain Gear.
  • Warm clothes – layer up! Including mittens!
  • Chairs.
  • Blankets.
  • Hot chocolate/ other snacks.
  • Donations for the Food Bank.
  • Patience!
  • Holiday spirit!
