It’s the first official weekend of summer!

Let’s get those summer sippers going, shall we? We’ve put together a couple of our favourite summer drinks to get you started!

 

Watermelon Sangria. This stuff is refreshing and dangerously good!

This recipe makes 8 drinks:

Combine ingredients and let chill before consumption (if you can resist)!

2 cups white grape juice.

750 mL rosé wine.

2 cups cubed watermelon.

2 pints raspberries.

Ice.

Soda water (if you like it bubbly, to taste).

 

Beer-garitas! So satisfying on a hot summer day!

3 beers, like Corona or Presidente.

1 can of Limeade.

12 ounces of tequila. Use the empty Limeade container for measuring.

Limes, a couple cut-up.

Ice.

Margarita salt.

 

Prepare the Limeade. Pour beer and tequila into the limeade mixture. Rim the glass with salt and serve over ice!

This might trigger memories of your childhood, but Shirley has stepped it up a notch since then!

4 -6oz carbonated lemon-lime pop.

2oz vodka.

1oz grenadine, or to taste.

1oz of orange juice.

Orange slices and cherries to garnish!

Combine ingredients and enjoy!

 

Blackberry Bourbon Ice-Tea. This one’s best for a long, lazy summer afternoon, sittin’ on the porch.

3 cups fresh blackberries.

3/4 cup sugar.

2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint, plus mint sprigs for garnish.

6 black tea bags.

Bourbon, to your liking.
Mash together the blackberries, sugar and mint. Meanwhile, make a big batch of tea. Once the tea has steeped pour it over the blackberry mixture. Strain the mixture into a pitcher and let chill. Pour over ice and add mint to garnish! Voila!

 

Blueberry Mojito! Because why have a regular mojito when you can add blueberries!

This recipe makes 1 drink.

1 cup fresh blueberries.

4 oz clear rum.

10 fresh mint leaves.

2 teaspoons sugar.

2 limes for juice.

6 oz club soda.

Ice.

Fresh mint and blueberries to garnish.

 

Muddle blueberries or add to a blender. Then add mint leaves and sugar for furthering crushing. Add ice, rum and lime juice to a shaker and shake well. Pour over ice and add some soda.
